- explore the texts like Patanjali Yoga Sutras, Gheranda Samhita & Tirumandiram.

"Before encountering KP, I had a disciplined yoga practice, mainly enjoying the physical benefits of such asanas. However, my practice was incomplete as the connection between the physical and more spiritual practice had not been made. KP taught me the great value of practicing mantras, and also of a more holistic routine in order to best take advantage of my yoga practice." Jose Fraga, Miami (USA) / Barcelona (Spain)

What to expect in Yogasana (postures)?

Yogasana (postures) is that set of building blocks that help us to become physically and mentally fit enough to pursue the higher limbs of Yoga.

Swami Satyananda was given the mandate by His Guru Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh, to 'share Yoga from door to door and shore to shore.' In sync with dasanami tradition, we thus follow 'Satyananda Yoga.'

If you already have a certification or postural practice that is based on a style like Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa etc., then you can understand the approach of tradition to Yogasana by learning the postures that are not in your practice list but indicated by tradition as mandatory. This way you are empowered to design classes for whoever approaches you as per their need. Thus fulfilling the role of an ideal teacher, which is to serve the need of the students or seekers.

What to expect beyond postures?

A deeper understanding of Yama and Niyama, the foundations to Yoga as well processes from other limbs like Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana and Dhyana. To facilitate deeper experience of the limbs of Yoga mentioned above, a couple of Kriya, Mantras, Parayana, Mudras & Bandhas would be part of the program. The ways to deepen meditative experience with and without Mantras, form the core of this 500 hrs program.

A 2 to 3 day pilgrimage to a place or places of spiritual and yogic significance is part of the agenda. Here we get an opportunity to internalize the deeper yoga processes like withdrawal and meditation.

A few certified teachers may wish to understand the philosopy of Yoga. Through interactive sessions such topics could be taken up for discussion. On the whole, this program would prepare you to understand and practice Yoga as a complete system.

"Shrimath: An "all inclusive" experience. From learning the basics & digging deep into yoga processes and its origin, to the authentic experiences of rural village life, tasty traditional Indian cuisine, and the genuine people at the retreat- including the instructors, students and guest speakers. Appropriate for beginners to advanced students.

The best part for me was the way the course was tailored to meet my needs as a beginner: answering all my questions and including more detailed lectures on the things that most interested me. Krishna's knowledge is extensive. Thank you for taking extra time to ensure my understanding of course material and for going above and beyond to help me achieve my other goals while visiting India. Hema: Thank you for your patience, understanding and encouragement to be correct in my practices. Your precise lessons will travel home with me and be shared with many! With much gratitude." Shelley Olson, California, USA
