A few herbs grown / found !

We have given images of a few herbs that are grown / found at Shrimath. We saw 'found' because it is nature's way to show us to include these in our regular diet as mentioned in the ancient texts.

Some of them, like coriander and curry leaves are added daily in your food. Moringa is given once a week. Other herbs reach you in the form of herbal tea.

You could hover above these images to know their scientific name. Most of these images are borrowed from Organic facts & Wise geek. We are grateful to them.

The vegetables and fruits that are used in Shrimath kitchen are procured directly from the Friday Farmers' Market, at nearby town of Nelamangala. It is our way of supporting the local produce and contributing to the rural economy. Students are invited to join us during one of these Friday outings!

Apart from those listed here, we also grow varieties of lettuce and spinach, plantain (banana), aubergine, jack fruit, guava, passion fruit etc., Students get to work in the farm daily for 45 minutes. We gladly share the simple methods of mulching, composting etc with the students and are willing to learn better methods of agriculture from them, as well!
